Hwange National Park and Victoria Falls from Horseback

With this  exciting new collaboration between Zambezi Horse Safaris and Hwange Horseback Safaris  you are now abe to ride in two of Zimbabwe's top safari destinations! This big five horseback adventure begins in Zimbabwe's flagship national park and home to one of Africa's largest elephant populations before heading off to explore one of the seven natural wonders of the world!

Our six night water and wilderness ride will take you on an adventure of a lifetime where you can expect to ride with all of the big five in their natural environment. From the open savanna grasslands and mystical teak and acacia forests of Hwange National Park onto the pristine and largely unexplored riverine of the mighty Zambezi River. 

This ride is for experienced riders only and can accommodate groups of two to six riders per safari, keeping the experience personalized and exclusive. There are a number of activities to compliment your horseback adventure like walking, both day and night game drives, community and conservation tours as well as a tour of the largest falling sheet of water, the famous Victoria falls, or as the locals like to call her: Mosyi O Tuna- The smoke that thunders.

The Camps 

Ursula's Homestead


 Ursula’s Homestead is Situated in Victoria Falls on the Stanley and Livingstone Private Game Reserve- a 2500 hectare big five reserve and a black Rhino sanctuary bordering the Zambezi National Park. Ursula’s Homestead accommodates a maximum of 8 people in four chalets. Originally reserved by the owner of the Estate for himself and his family only, Ursula still retains its feel of a private Safari home. All rooms can be configured as either double or twins with a private terrace, ensuite shower room and air conditioning. Each room also boasts a mini bar, telephone and tea/coffee making facilities. Ursula's Homestead is located a mere 8,5km from the mighty Victoria Falls and is the perfect location to explore this unesco world heritage site from horseback.

Vintage Horse Camp Hwange boast a glamorous take on a bygone era of explorer accommodation. With four luxury tents set in a private concession on the eastern boundary of Hwange National Park. Each spacious tent is ensuite and boasts a large open veranda to relax and enjoy the sights and sounds of the African bush around you. Tents can be either double or twins and are tastefully furnished with a suitable place to unpack your clothes and settle in as well as a tea/coffee station and solar lighting.  Expect to be waited on by a small and friendly compliment of camp staff  from preparing your fresh coffee in the morning to filling your private vintage bucket shower after a long days ride.  Alfresco dining by the warmth of candlelight allows you appreciate the magnificent night sky whilst being kept warm by the glowing embers of the camp fire. Vintage Horse Camp prides itself on being eco- friendly and is completely off grid, from solar lighting to fresh bread baked in a traditional fire oven.
